Checking the manual, I may be experiencing the "too close" to my router problem? My WiFi6 router is a relatively new addition to my home network (purchased nearly a year ago) but the WiModem didn't have a problem with it before. I have a few C64s on my test bench which is 8 feet away from my router. I connected the WiModem to my C128 which is farther away but still pretty close (it is an adjacent room) and it seems to have no trouble finding and connecting to the router.
For some reason I can't get it to work - I'm wondering if the modem somehow got damaged?

I just updated firmware to see if that would fix it.
AT*L results in error
AT*L=8502 results in error

AT*HELP shows command is there.
AT*NET also results in error.
Thanks,

I recently got a WiModem and I'm having several head-scratching moments I'm trying to resolve.

Overall, running at 2400 baud, the modem works excellent with my BBS operation. One problem I noted though is that file transfers wouldn't work right when running Punter or X modem protocol. This was previously reported (https://www.cbmstuff.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=485) by another user. I tested my configuration alternately with CCGMS with same results.

I did find out however - at least with CCGMS - that if I set modem type to U9600 and push the baud rate to 9600, CCGMS will properly send software with another computer. So I then jumped over to my BBS and set the baud rate to 9600 - modem was showing same. Now all the BBS sees is garbage characters and can't communicate with the modem, apparently incompatible with talking to the modem in at this baud rate.

Summary: Normal text communication error-free at 2400 baud. Modem communication flawless as well. File transfers will not operate (hangs on the BBS side).
BBS modem init string is: ate1x1s0=0s10=30v1

Goal: desire to run at 2400 baud rate (for this is a commodore 64!) and effectively do transfers.
I've tried the following settings:
AT&k1 / k2/ k3 / k0
Running latest firmware as of today.
Translation mode is set for NONE.
Caller modems for inbound calls had translation modes set to NONE.
User wifi modems used to call BBS: Both Retro-rewind Wifi and CBMStuff.Com WiModems were used.

No animals were harmed in the testing of this.

I have been attempting to connect to BBSs using my Plus/4. The OLED shows connected but there is no response on the terminal software (I am using Term-80 and Higgyterm). It just seems to time out. Occasionally, I will receive a busy message. The WiModem as currently configured works fine on my C64 and C128 using CCGMS, Dialogue128 and DesTerm. I know the Plus/4 has a real UART in it- should I be configuring it differently than how it is currently set for my C64? I have attempted toggling settings for DCD, CTS, etc., all to no avail. Any suggestions would be welcome as I originally bought the WiModem to use with my plus/4 after watching RetroCombs connect to a BBS with a Plus/4 on his YouTube channel using a WiFi Modem made by CommodoreForever (So I know it can be done).

Thanks, glen

Recently got back to using my Wimodem a few weeks ago, updated FW and all was good, no issues at all. Have had a couple of weeks off and powered up the 64 today and the OLED display is corrupted. It almost looks as though every other line is missing. Anyone else experienced this? It's been plugged into the 64 and powered off for a couple of weeks. No obvious external damage. It still works without issue, but the OLED info was very useful!

I am trying to run a BBS on my C64 using the WiModem. I am able to access other BBS systems through my C64 but cannot connect to my BBS from an external computer.

I forwarded the internal and external ports in my router to 6400 and 1541 but neither ports are detected as open when I test them with a port checking tool.

Executing the ATI command does show that the incoming port is set to 6400 and the outgoing port is 1541. My router asks for an internal and external port in the forwarding settings which are directed to the WiModem.
Any help would be appreciated.
If I type AT*SSIDrouter, password it will not connect. However, if I type AT*NSx,password it connects fine. I'm trying to write software to interface with the WiModem, but I need to be able to enter the SSID manually which doesn't work on either WiModem.
The other WiModem uses a different command set. I have to type AT$SSID=router and AT$PASS=password, and then ATC1 to connect. It does not connect.
Anyone know what's going on?

I tried doing AT&D2 and AT&D3 no difference was noticed.

any suggestion on how i can get this to work or at least investigate if this analog telephone specific functionality that wimodem is emulating?
too quickly investigate and not cause on one of the bbs. i do the following
1. after a power cycle
2. AT&D2 DTR signal is monitored. The modem hangs up and enters command state after an on-to-off transition of DTR signal.

Hello everyone,

I need a bit of help
I recently purchased the wifimodem and I know it works because it connects to my phone without issue.
However, I cannot get it to connect to my TP-LINK router.
I've tried removing encryption, turning off the firewall, making password all caps, not all caps, (tried password in caps and not for each test).
No password etc.. always says cannot find router.

AT*N will detect my router (shows 3 SSID's for my router with same name)
However when I try to connect using any of the 3 methods listed in manual, i get No router located including WPS.

After failed attempts, if I do API command it does show that it's connected to the router but no IP address.
The router under connected devices however does not show the mac address of the modem.

This is a mesh network with 2 extenders. I have tried both 2.4 and 5ghz as well.

Any ideas?

Very cool, I was able to connect to particles BBS and post/read some messages.

On a 40 column Commodore PET 4016 (that was upgraded to 32K). (5V from the tape connector on the side)

I used PETTERM (specifically PETTERM40G.PRG since I have the "graphical" keyboard instead of the "business" keyboard).

My only issues is I couldn't change the baud rate of the WiModem successfully.

I did AT*B1200 and it said "OK" and then any typing after that was garbled (so I assume this means the baud rate change took, however the OLED was still showing "300" but it did show a little "AT*B1200" as it shows the last typed command?)

I assumed the change to 1200 would be stored, so I tried just doing a reboot and re-running PETTERM setting at 1200 baud - but still didn't work. I had reboot again, set back to 300 baud.

After typing "AT*B1200", I'm not aware of any way to change the baud rate once you've passed the startup menu (where you specify the baud rate upfront). i.e. the PET doesn't have like ALT, CTRL, ESC, etc. to specify a hot-key to change states. But I'm new to do this, and maybe am just aware of how.

Still, I expected the OLED on the wiModem to change from "300" to "1200" in the corner. I also tried 2400, same issues.

Maybe the PET 4016 and Commodore BASIC 4.0 isn't able to go past 300 ?

Thanks for making these devices, very cool

Oh, and I wasn't sure how to issue a BACKSPACE from PETTERM. I recall it being CTRL-H - I tried the "<" and left-cursor on the PET keyboard, but still no luck. Not a huge deal, though my PET keyboard stutters a lot
