Atari 520STE Turbo Pack Disk 1 - wite back to disk
#1
I have a clean SCP dump of this disk but am unable to write this back to a disk and have it work.  The disk created whilst almost identical to the original is slightly different and the game - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade does not load.

The dumps (including the SCP dump) can be found here: https://mega.nz/file/JcFUlYbQ#TzMQ9nqrFc...QgkpDxN8bE

Here is a dump of the disk I created: https://mega.nz/file/wFMSiCRT#bifr_LhWpm...saaavdjRTM

Have you tried running the SCP in STeeM?

I will have a look at the images.

Yes, original disk dump works fine in STeeM so I know the dump is good.

I don’t have an Atari ST setup at the moment (it’s in storage), can you tell me what problem you are having with this disk loading? Does it start to load and then hang? How far does it get?

As noted here: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.ph...18#p402418

Igor advised: the duplicated disk wasn't formatted aligned to the index hole position and has data "under the index" on most tracks.

Did you look at the flux? The track gap is completely destroyed (probably deliberately). You can write this out to a real disk manually, track by track or you can now "rotate" the tracks so they are index aligned and then write that image.

I just looked at this disk a bit more. You should be able to write this back out with SPLICE mode. Does that not work?

I tried SPLICE mode which is as per the test dump I provided the second link to and the disk does not work in a real Atari.

OK, thanks for confirming. This will be a great test for improving the SPLICE mode. That *should* work just fine, so I will fix that. In the mean time, I sent you another PM. I missed a "click" worth of tracks on rotating the image. I fixed that.
