Wow! That's a good find! I can't imagine why they would have AT&F there, because that would definitely reset a real modem too.

Hey all, just had a quick question. I just purchased a super serial card for my apple iie platinum, and was wondering about the serial cable. do I use a straight-thru cable or a null modem cable?

It depends on what is on the other end of the cable........ A null modem cable would be if you are attaching it to another computer directly serial port to serial port. I've never heard them referred to as straight through cables before. I thought they are referred to as simply a serial cable or modem cable, but I never pinned one out before either....

>DanW
>It would be connected to a wimodem232 Then start with the straight thru cable If that doesn't work try this SSC -------------------------- Modem --------------------------------------------- GND 1 ----------------- 1 GND frame ground (this line is OPTIONAL) TXD 2 ----------------> 2 TXD transmit data (from SSC to modem) RXD 3 <---------------- 3 RXD receive data (from modem to SSC) RTS 4 ----------------> 4 RTS request to send (for hardware handshaking) CTS 5 <---------------- 5 CTS clear to send (for hardware handshaking) DSR 6 <---------------- 8 DCD data carrier detect (from modem) GND 7 ----------------- 7 GND signal ground (for all signals but pin 1) DCD 8 (leave unconnected!) DTR 20 ----------------> 20 DTR data terminal ready (to hangup modem) Have the ends of this cable labelled "SSC" and "Modem", as it will not work correctly if plugged in backwards

I have used a standard RS232 modem cable as well as just a gender changer (direct plug-in) with my SSC on the //e.
