Questions about flux and PC 5.25 disks

I was curious why every odd numbered track on a lot of 5.25 DS DD disks I check has the flux data visual scattered, while the even tracks has it all nicely compacted.

I just like to understand how things work

It's likely that either the side is not used, or the head is off.
