Thanks... to answer your question about the difference between NULLMODEM vs. just calling, the persistence thing is important for sure because you can use the NULLMODEM connection with a device that can never respond, like a RS232 printer. The through-put is also faster, but still limited to your device by its baud rate. Most RS232 printers need 19200 baud.
