You can connect and transfer files with any version. Set the auto-answer register (S0=1) or type ATA to answer, and use a program for the C64 that has Zmodem or Xmodem protocols and use the proper protocol with WiBridge.
I use HyperTerm (from Windows 7) with Windows 10 to transfer files because it supports all kinds of protocols.
