my wimodem hasn't been used in a while, like a year or two.. anyway i plugged in the old c128 today and tried it and see that there's an update..but at *update gives me a HTTP error then it reconnects to the router  firmware is 3.0.2

You might want to try again. I just updated firmware without any issues.
