I am trying to update my SuperCard Pro to the latest firmware. It's currently on v1.2.
Using the updater software, it correctly detects the card and the hardware/firmware versions, but when I initiate the update it just seems to stall as per the picture:

After a cold start:

I open SCP software (version 2.20) from the desktop icon
A Windows-10 dialog asks if I want to allow SCP to make changes; I agree
SCP starts and immediately says a new version is available, asking do I want to install it; I agree
Shortly - a few seconds - thereafter a dialog states installation is finished
I close the dialog and another pops up stating SCP is already running; cancel is my only option
I close this dialog and nothing further happens; SCP does not load
This happens every time I invoke SCP software

If, however, I opt not to install the new version SCP loads and acts as usual.

So I've had my SCP for a while (3 yrs), I still have the same PC I used it on 2 years ago, pulled the SCP out of moth balls and tried to use it, but after installation on the same PC, it says the card cannot be found. Yet the FTDI driver installs just fine, and when you plug in the card, windows 7 64b gives a "thumbs up", and the SCP starts the red led, turns to green, and the "USB" led turns on, but the SCP software reports the card not found. Taking the original zip file to another older Dell Inspiron 20 running win 10, it installs just fine as in the 7 64b, but complains of course about the missing dll file - I installed that on the win 10 and then it sees the card just fine. I also use Arduino on the Win 7 PC and no issues with serial connections. I do use a hub extender but I also tried it direct to the PC without the extender. Removed all unnecessary USB devices but I am met with the same results. I am not sure where to go from here as this used to work on this machine. Is anyone aware of any USB software drivers or apps that might conflict with this driver?

Thanks to all....
The strange thing is that it's been working on my older machine before, this PC had SCP version 1.95, but it was upgraded from an older release (which I can't find). What could be the issue ?

I've just hooked up my SCP + Sony MPF920 3.5" floppy drive to my Windows 10 system.
The SCP software recognises the controller but is not seeing any drives.
The cable being used is an old (but previously unused, pulled from its plastic bag) one-drive 3.5" cable; it has a single standard 3.5" notched drive connector at each end with a twist in part of the cable close to one end. It doesn't have any 5.25" connectors. It's passed the smoke test.
I assume the fact that the power light on the drive comes on means that the power connector is OK. The USB cable is plugged directly into one of the system USB ports, not a hub, so power should be sufficient.
At the moment the power light on the drive is permanently on, but as mentioned above the drive is not showing up.
If I disconnect the USB cable then reconnect it, the LED next to the floppy/board power connector flashes red briefly then turns green. The light next to the USB interface turns green and stays green. After reconnecting in this way, the power light on the floppy turns off. (It's an Amiga floppy disk.)

Is the floppy drive cable the culprit here? Or is it that the Sony drive does not play well with others?

Let me know if you need a pic of the cable, but it's a fairly standard part.

I have the SCP installation and setup completed using Win 10 with no issues, But I can't make a successful copy of an Atari unprotected disk using a good DS/DD Chinon 48 TPI disk drive. (This PC drive came out of an Atari XF551, and works perfectly.) Two things are of concern:

1. After I get to track 20 (0-39), the drive starts "thumping" like it is trying to go past the 40th track. It does this on both read and write. After I make a copy of a regular Dos disk (all green on the GUI) and then try to boot that, it reads the first track and then goes into "Boot Error" and keeps trying to re-read the disk. This acts like SCP is making the drive double step, so it runs out of tracks at 20. It is not set for 96 TPI.

2. On the settings, both READ and WRITE are set for High Density, with Low Density being "grayed out." Also the Backside setting has "None" grayed out. Nearly all Atari 8-bit disks are single-sided.

No Atari 8-bit drives are HD. All 5-1/4" disks are 40 track, FM (SD) or MFM (DD).

Edit:
I've found the answers to part of my questions/issues. Evidently if a setting is checked, then that is what is set, even if grayed out. The non-grayed is an option.
So now on reading (in the copier/imager) I no longer get the thumping noise -- appears to stop at track 39.
But it still starts thumping at about track 20 when writing.
I've tried a half-dozen good single density disks that can be easily read on a stock Atari drive, but in every case, the resultant copy cannot be successfully booted.

I have looked at one with an Atari disk editor and reveals some issues.
1) SCP is reading every other track (or at least writing out every other track).
2) Every sector that is actually written is a bad sector. So only the first track is good and can be read when booting.

Thanks,
