[Solved] WiModem on C64 Reloaded : Interference?
#11
I have a Reloaded MK2 (has PLA replacement baked in, no way to use a "real" one) and mine is doing the same "squiggly dance" when the WiModem is connected...

It looks like Jim and Jens are talking about this problem:

Not sure if it can be resolved, but I am happy that it's being discussed! In the meantime, the squiggle is hardly noticeable after 3 or 4 beers.  Big Grin

What monitor are you using where you see this?

I have the S-Video of the MK2 going to a Framemeister XRGB-mini connected via HDMI to a Samsung LN52A650 TV.

Have you tried connecting the S-Video directly to a CRT? Maybe the issue is that the frame grabber. I didn't see a problem with the 8701 replacement with the WiModem with a CRT or LCD. However, the C64Reloaded does not work with the Jason Ranheim EPROM programmer called Promenade when using the red board 8701 replacement. Every EPROM I try to burn results in an error (won't verify). I tried the Covox Voice Master and that has "static" in the audio. Both of these work fine with the C64Reloaded when using a real 8701. Both these devices connect to the USER port and draw quite a bit of power. I think the voltage fluctuation that was a normal part of the C64 does not work well with the C64Reloaded's 8701 replacement.

Unfortunately I don't have access to any other display right now. I'll see if I can figure out another way to test it though.

Have you tried the replacement 8701 in a real bread bin to see if the same problem exists? I wonder if this is a C64Reloaded problem or the 8701 problem (or both).

I don't notice any "interference" issues on a normal breadbox C64.
I tried shielding the C64 reloaded but that didn't seem to do anything.

Update : Swapping the replacement 8701 with a real one solved the issue.

Hi listen I have the same problem I have a reloaded mk2 and I use a power supply 12 volts 5 A (not its original), practically connecting the wimodem flickers a bit to the edges as if a current would pass by now and then how can I solve this? ?? I did not understand what is the 8701 ???

This is a problem with the MK2 board. Real hardware doesn't have this issue.
