Brand New 3.5" Flpppy Drive and cable
#1
Just received my New Alps DF354 3.5" drive and it came with a cable. The cable has a twist. I have only seen the twist in a floppy cable for 5.25" drives. Do I have to do anything special with this 3.5" drive to get it to work with Super Copy Pro and my Alps drive?

my Super Copy Pro will be here Friday and I want to hit the ground running!

Thanks!

The connector after the twist is Drive 0. The connector before the twist is Drive 1. SuperCard Pro supports either (and both) drive positions.

OK the cable only has one connector after the twist so that indicates DS0. I cant find any drive select jumpers on the drive and a Google search turned up nothing. Does the drive come configured as DS0 by default so I don't have to worry about jumpers?

The drive maybe be hardware wired to use the cable position as the drive select. Most drives are setup that way without jumpers.

So should I just be able to plug everything in to the Super Card Pro and try Drive 0 and if that doesn't work try Drive 1?

The SuperCard Pro software goes and polls all of the drives. What you see in the DEVICES menu is what is available. It might be labeled as Drive 0 or as Drive 1, depending on the select jumper and cable position. If you don't get any drives (and the drive LED doesn't come on during the scanning process that happens when the program first runs), then your jumper is set incorrectly on the drive.
