Alignment floppies.
#1
I have been searching for alignment floppy disks but not having any luck..which is hardly surprising I guess.
Assuming someone has imaged one using scp ...would creating one from that image be sufficiently accurate for aligning other drives ?
I guess only creating such a disk on a 'new' unused drive would work anyway ..as old drives might well intruduce more errors.
...and then there would be the problem of obtaining the image in the first place.
Just musing on this atm ..

Real alignment disks (Accurite and Dysan) can not be duplicated with any PC drive. The alignment disks are written on special drives that have hundreds of tracks per inch and are capable or stepping quickly to make elliptical tracks.
